The DIY PVC railings are incredibly easy to install and maintain. Thousands of satisfied customers sing praises of their unique appeal and versatility.

Here, in this blog-post, we answer the top 10 FAQs that you may have about the product and let you decide on your own!

Q1. PVC vs. Wood- What is the comparison? Why should I opt for PVC?

Ans. Right off– When we choose PVC, we immediately say NO to cumbersome, costly and high-maintenance traditional materials. And going further, the benefits are huge in terms of longevity, durability and hassle-free use. Massive upkeep is required for wood – sanding, polishing, filling and painting costs that add up quite quickly year on year, every year. The upfront costs of installing PVC may run higher compared to wood – conventionally PVC costs about twice as much as wood. But that’s without taking into account the high labor costs involved with the installation, finishing and maintenance of wooden railings. Overall the prices are absolutely justified for the high quality, long-use product. It will surely save you a considerable sum in the long run..

Q2. What are my options while purchasing PVC railings?

Ans. PVC railings are available as individual components as well as packaged kits. You can easily install the railings yourself or employ a contractor to install it for you. There is high flexibility while working with PVC railings, as parts are available on demand and the materials are pre-designed, modular and engineered for a superb fit and finish.

Q3. What are my color and design options with PVC railings?

PVC railings are available in a variety of colors, designs and textures – from pristine white to aesthetic wood-finished. However, when opting for the augmented finishes, the costs add up, and the look and feel might not quite hit the mark. That’s why our PVC listings simply include the classic white American porch railing finish.

Q4. How are PVC railings put together?

Ans. Railings can be installed using fastening screws and metal brackets to assemble the posts, rails and pickets. This, however, is not a preferred method. Our design includes brackets, adapters and components that are engineered to fit together seamlessly, and held in place by fasteners.

Q5. Where can I use PVC railings in my home?

Ans. PVC railings can be used around gardens, decks and patios of suburban homes. They can be used as partition or guiding posts along terraces too. While PVC railings are sturdy, considerations must be made for the specific applications. For example, for considerations of safety PVC railings should not be used in areas of high-rises where excessive force or pressure is expected to be exerted upon them, including people leaning against them or strong winds.

Q6. Do PVC railings expand or contract?

Ans. PVC may expand and contract due to heat and direct sunlight (unlike wood which expands because of moisture.) Allowances should be made for this while installing the product.

Q7. Do my PVC railings come with a warranty?

Ans. Yes, your PVC railings do come with a limited lifetime warranty* which is also transferable.

Q8. What about maintenance? How do I clean my PVC railings?

Ans. PVC railings are great around homes, especially because they are so easy to maintain. Just clean the dirt and grime off your railings with water and soap. Use a surface cleaner for tougher stains. PVC is a non-organic material and does not attract mildew. The UV inhibitors (Ti02) in your PVC railings prevent yellowing or discoloration due to constant exposure to the elements. Q10. How do my PVC railings affect the environment?

Ans. PVC is an inert material. PVC railings are safe and non-toxic. They do not disintegrate, seep into the soil, transmit pollutants into the ground or the air or have other similar adverse effects on the environment. After they have served their purpose and long use, they can also be dismantled and recycled. And, by choosing to buy PVC railings you are saving hundreds of trees from being chopped down. That is an obvious plus!
