Getting the Most Out of Your Closets
One important aspect of having closets is that they are a great way to de-clutter your home. However, there are too many houses out there without ample closet space. If you are like many people, you likely didn’t think about where you were going to put all of your stuff when you were picking your house out. You looked at how big the kitchen was, whether the home was in a good location, and whether your larger items, like your bed or couch were going to fit. You never thought about where you would put the kid’s boots in the middle of the summer or the numerous sheet sets that you have collected over the years. That is why it is so important to be able to make the best use out of the closet space you have.
Finding the perfect closet solution is not that difficult. There is a way to get the most out of the space that you have whether it is the size of a stand-up shower or as big as a room.
Utilizing the vertical space
When you are looking to get the most out of a closet, you need to be able to store things virtually up to the ceiling. That is where your closet rods and shelving hooks come in handy. With a simple design, you can turn your closet into an organized masterpiece.
Think about what you want to store in the closet. Do you need room for your shoes, his ties, the kid’s jackets? Do you need room for the towels and sheets or the huge comforters? Look into your closet and see what is there that you need to get at and what can be stored away on a top shelf that you only need once a year.
Grab some measuring tape and measure the length, width, and height of the closet. Create a diagram that will show the various sections that you will need to include in your design in order to fit everything in a logical order.
Start checking out your options. If you have only a few things to hang up, partition out the closet so that you have just one section for hanging clothes. Add a few shelves and cubby holes for storing the things that you thought about and the things that you have forgotten about. Grab a folding shelf that sits flush against the wall until you need it.
When it comes to making the most out of your space, you want to make sure that you are putting your concentration on things that really matter. Soon you won’t have to search through a pile of clothes to find the perfect shirt to match that tie or the beautiful sundress for that pool party. Create a pantry and be able to find the perfect pasta for your pasta salad instead of buying a new box. You’ll find that it is a great stress reliever to be organized!
